Dubai to Develop 17,080 Affordable Housing Units

Dubai has earmarked 1.46 million square meters of land for the construction of 17,080 residential units as part of its Affordable Housing Policy, further solidifying its commitment to diverse and inclusive urban development.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, has endorsed several initiatives aimed at expanding affordable housing, enhancing education, and supporting legal professionals in the emirate, according to a report from Emirates News Agency (WAM).

Sheikh Hamdan emphasized: “We are dedicated to providing a variety of housing options and welcome innovative ideas that foster a cohesive and thriving society—Dubai is a city for all.”

Targeting skilled professionals, this initiative is designed to cultivate dynamic communities, drive economic growth, create employment opportunities, and improve access to quality housing and essential services. The first phase of development will focus on six designated sites: Al Mueisim 1, Al Twar 1, Al Qusais Industrial 5, and Al Leyan 1. These new residential units will be available at affordable rental rates, offering well-designed living spaces with access to key infrastructure and essential amenities.

The project will be managed by the Supreme Committee for Urban Planning and executed in collaboration with the Dubai Land Department, Dubai Municipality, Roads and Transport Authority, General Directorate for Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai, Dubai Civil Defence, and Dubai Real Estate Corporation.

Sheikh Hamdan reiterated that Dubai’s success as a global city is rooted in a vision that empowers individuals, families, and communities. This vision fosters accessibility to opportunities, nurtures talent, promotes national identity, enhances knowledge, and supports entrepreneurship.

“Dubai has long pursued sustainable growth through empowerment, a guiding principle inspired by the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. By fostering collaboration across sectors, we are ensuring that Dubai remains the premier destination for ambitious global talent,” Sheikh Hamdan stated.

Additionally, he approved the Independent Legal Consultant Project, introducing a flexible licensing model that allows Emirati citizens to practice legal consultancy independently, eliminating the need for a physical office.

He remarked: “The legal profession is evolving, and we encourage Emiratis to explore opportunities in this dynamic field. Dubai continues to be a hub for entrepreneurship, promoting work-life balance and improving quality of life through innovative business models.”

This affordable housing initiative aligns with the Affordable Housing Policy endorsed by the Council and supports the objectives of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.
