Fermanagh estate agent Leona leads the way in Dubai

Fermanagh Woman Excelling in Dubai’s Real Estate Market

A Monea woman has expressed her passion for working in Dubai’s real estate industry, having become a prominent figure in a leading multi-million property investment company.

Leona McHugh, originally from Fermanagh, is a qualified solicitor, but her desire for travel led her to relocate to Dubai, where she has established herself in the property sector with White & Co Real Estate.

With an annual turnover exceeding £600,000, White & Co Real Estate has solidified its reputation as a market leader in Dubai. The 28-year-old was recently recognized as the ‘Top Performer’ for September and October.

“I specialize in commercial properties, dealing with offices, warehouses, plots of land, buildings, and retail spaces. I truly love what I do,” Ms. McHugh shared with the Herald.

“My legal background made commercial real estate the best fit for me. However, I do find myself a bit envious when I see my colleagues working with some of the stunning residential properties.

“Additionally, I must say our CEO and management team are exceptional, making my work experience an absolute pleasure.”

Having spent the past two years living and working in Dubai, the Fermanagh solicitor has observed a significant contrast between life in the Middle East and the Irish countryside.

“The first six months were challenging, as it always is when moving somewhere new—finding friends and adjusting to a different country. But over time, things started to fall into place,” she explained.

**”Life here is completely different from Fermanagh, without a doubt. The sunshine all year round and the convenience of everything make it quite a unique experience.

“Once you set work aside, it almost feels like being on a continuous mini holiday. That said, Fermanagh is definitely easier on the wallet compared to Dubai.”**

As a leading real estate professional in Dubai, she encourages others from Fermanagh who are passionate about traveling and experiencing new cultures to consider moving abroad.

“I understand that some may have concerns about relocating to Dubai, possibly due to things they’ve seen in the media, but such incidents are truly rare,” she assured.

“Dubai is largely home to expatriates, and people here are incredibly helpful. The tax-free benefits also make it an attractive destination for those wanting to work for a few years, save money, and then return home.

“It is also one of the safest places in the world. I often leave my car unlocked with the key inside and even leave my house door open—things I wouldn’t dream of doing anywhere else.”
